Mechanical seal repair helps our customers offset their costs in this very trying economy, by usually realizing upwards to 50% the cost of new seals.
Repairing of mechanical seals is a very meticulous and precise process. The process consists of initial cleaning, disassembly and inspection of the seal components. All parts are put into a cleaning vat to make sure all contamination and particulates are free from the component.
Usually the first item to fail on mechanical seals is the carbon which is the softer solid rotating portion of the mechanical seal. At Bergman, we automatically replace all used carbons with new 658RC quality material, to eliminate the possibility of creating a grinding wheel effect if we were to just grind lap and polish the existing face, due to the fact that particulates will migrate into the softer face imbedding themselves deeply into the material.
If needed after our inspection, we clean and replace or re-lap and polish the existing hard faces bringing them to a mirror finish with a flatness of one helium light band. All cartridge or component seals receive new elastomers, set screws, drive pins if needed and once assembled, are tested to make sure your product is ready for service.
